Day 1
For spring break we packed up and headed to the Mountains!
Tuesday morning before the sun was up Bryan and Joey headed up to Kirkwood.
I packed all our stuff, the car, and the kids in the van and headed up to Tahoe.
I drove by myself with the three little kids to meet Bryan and Joey at the cabin.
Wow!
What an adventure we had. . .
It was snowing hard, the road was covered in snow and ice.
My car started so slide this way and then that way.
I had to pull over with only one mile to go to "chain installation."
I freaked at this point. The snow really started to come down and no cars had passed by.
I was somewhere on the 50, stuck in the snow. I called AAA they had to call the Highway Patrol. After about what felt like forever explaining that I didn't know my exact location a "chain installer" came to my rescue. He got my chains on (however, he was probably the meanest installer there was, he just kept yelling at me and I still haven't figured out why)
Ok so now my chains are on, I am driving and some light comes on in the car. Great! I tried to call Bryan -No Answer!
We pressed on! Could it get worse?
We finally get there-and the car didn't break down!
Bryan and joey were there waiting for us. Turns out my car has some automatic traction control (ok I wasn't aware of that.)
(ok, so I know Ava is wearing blue, but it was the only snow outfit in her size. Grandma bought it for Tommy, but I never needed it. There is a pink hat under it.)
Day 2
The road to the Homewood was closed due to Avalanches, no lifts were running at Kirkwood. The winds were high and the snow was falling heavy. We decided not to try the roads and to hang out and play in the snow around the cabin. Joe and Nathan tried to made jumps for their snowboards and used the snow covered rocks as mountains. They had such a blast. I only came out for a few minutes at a time.
It was too cold for me.
Day 3
We got up early and check the ski and road conditions.
We decided to go out to Kirkwood.
Oh my gosh!
I am so glad we did, it was such a beautiful trip.
We saw some frozen lakes and at one lake there were some ice fishers.
That was so cool to see.
We finally got to Kirkwood and had such an amazing time.
It is such a beautiful place.
I really enjoyed it there.
It wasn't snowing when we got there so I sat outside in a lounge chair and watched Joey go on a run and Bryan take Nathan on the Bunny slope.
Then Tommy wanted to go!
He's only 2, but Bryan took him anyways and he loved it!
Him and Nathan started fighting over who got to go next.
I cannot believe Tommy loved snowboarding so much!
Day 4
Bryan and Joey took off early and wen to Kirkwood for the day.
I packed up and headed home with the kids.
And not anytime too soon.
It started snowing and snowed the whole way down the mountain.
Now, that snow I could handle. Nothing was sticking to the ground yet.
