Yesterday Bryan decided we needed a family bike ride. We all loaded up, stopped and picked up some chicken and headed off to the park at the end of the bike trail. What a great idea! The kids loved it and had such a great time. It felt so good to get out in the nice weather. We had out picnic, played at the park for a bit, then headed home. About a quarter of the way home as Joseph was cranking on his gears (which were already stripped) his chain came off and twisted up nice and good. Since it was beyond repair, Joseph and I started to walk our bikes home while Bryan (who had the little kids attached to his bike) and Nathan rode home.
We walked slow and talked. Then we would walk faster and found things to laugh at. We encountered some pretty interesting things. And had a great time bonding. Finally, one of us came up with a brilliant idea (I won't say who, BUT it WAS A boy named Joseph) to use their bike as a scooter. Now we were making great time. We'd be home before you know it. Just as we were riding into our neighborhood we saw Bryan coming to pick us up. That was great. I figured he was going to (thats just how he is) but I didn't really expect it because he had the three little kids to get home. unload, and reload.
All in all even with the mishap that made out little outing more adventurous it was a great time. I can't wait to do it again. Yes, I am actually looking forward to doing it again. But all I can say is we better get on it, 'cuz it gonna heat up soon!
